reflection of two Google analytics courses


                                                               Reflection

I’ve learned how analytics actually works, and how to use it when it comes to the specific situation. Much of the lessons went into the details of tailoring it to your needs. The most useful part is the tracks how people get to your website through campaign data.


This part is most useful because I can use those data to give myself some idea of why users are coming to Brenda coaching website. And find another ways to leading more people to come. There is great deal of incredible material in this course. Some of it, such as the live event videos and interviews and the course forums, if I want to learn it well, still needs time.

                                                 Display Network and Cookies

I’ve read the case about How Jordan received more attention and achieved its success through Google, therefore, I would like to talk more about Google Display network of Google Ads which is an excellent tool that can increase awareness and engagement of a brand. The Google Display Network offers text, image, rich media, and video advertising on Google properties, YouTube, and millions of web, domain, video, gaming, and mobile partner sites. All these media resources like Google properties, YouTube, and millions of web, domain, video, gaming, and mobile partner sites are used for advertiser to reach more potential customers all over the web. 

A cookie is a small file sent to your computer when you visit a website. Cookies help sites remember information about your visit, like your preferred language and other settings. With this information, sites can make your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.(Google, 2014)  for example, when you shop online, you need cookies to enable and record your actions that you completed before and make it easier for you. There are two types of cookies, and the second type is for Google analytics to track. Here is an article that helps us to learn more about cookies. I think it would be helpful if we knew some fundamental knowledge about how this mysterious technology works, and why we can take advantage of this existing metric.

The most useful skill that I learned from my current session is putting Google AdWords with businesses in operation, and learning how to make it better and better. And I still work on it.  How do you increase your visits? Do you agree that just selecting a proper keyword and building up a good landing page? What else

We’ve learned lots of good tools from Google, so, in the future session, I hope I could use them properly, effectively, and not confuse selecting them when it comes to a problem.

learning Journey 

I’d like to introduce one of the concepts from GOMC Digital Marketing Course. Conversion optimizer, which is an AdWords that features the use of AdWords Conversion to tracking data to get more conversions at a lower cost. (google,2012) You can view Conversion Optimizer eligibility in WordStream of the "AdWords" , and go to "Campaigns" tab, the chart as illustrated here:

The other one is in the from of our reading chapter for this week, search engine optimization. According to our book, the search engine optimization is the practice of optimizing a Web site so as to achieve preferred ranking on the search engine results pages.(Stokes, 2013) In other words, the owner of the website aims to achieve high rankings, and make sure that users find what they are looking for by using the search engine. But, how to exactly maximize the efficiency of our websites? Adding more relevant content to the website?
What I got is that the skills from the current session is to use Google web optimizer to set up any types of website experiments. It’s important because it helps us to create a good landing page, and make it easier for users/visitors to find what they specifically want, then increase the conversions. In turn, this skill, I gained, helped me increase revenue of my future online business.
Here is an article I read recently. It is about another important factor of online business, competitive environment of AdWords.


I am worried about the future experiments of AdWords, since what we are doing now is paper work, although we will figure it out eventually. I am expecting our efforts will be rewarded in the end.

A most important element of using search engines for web sites whether they are for users or advertisers is keywords (or key phrases). "Keywords are what a user enters into a search engine query to find web sites that are relevant to a company’s web site "and are used by potential customers (Stokes, 2013). Therefore, for one who wants to start his/her business online, it is very important how they choose to select key words. For example, a coaching company promising to improve peoples’ careers should be sure to include key words on Google such as “coaching” and “business coaching” or “Brenda Decroo Coaching”. The only way to find Brenda Decroo Coaching on Google is to type in “Brenda Decroo Coaching”; there are no other keywords that will find her web site. Google provides a free keyword tool to help small businesses get their online business start at this link:



“Strategy is defined as a set of ideas that outline how a product line or brand will achieve its objectives. This guides decisions on how to create, distribute, promote, and price the product or service” (Stokes, 2013). For example, if I had an online clothing shop and my business objective was to increase visitors to my site, what strategy should I employ? I should promote the reputation of my shop. Strategy is the key to achieve business objectives and guide movement to promote reputation.


Recently, the most useful skills I learned were Google market finder and Google real-time insight It’s a good resource for us to analyze this data and it helps me to know the market of some specific industries. Below is the tendency that I got from Google real-time insight and the tendency of interest of business coaching across the Google search engine in recent years and past years.

Lastly, I would say that it’s just a beginning that we have come so close to the internet and know more about why it is so important today. Thanks to the GOMC pre-campaign, I have the experience of working with a real client, which will be fantastic for me; it will be challenging for me to explore the marketing strategies for client’s, but it will still be an opportunity for me to improve myself and see how far I can go. In the next session, I would like to learn more and know how to use Google products because they can make a difference in my life.
